About Tungsten

Cemented carbide dental endmill

Tungsten is a unique metal due to its high temperature properties and exceptional high density. It is most frequently used as tungsten carbide in cemented carbides (also called hardmetals) because of the outstanding hardness of WC. However, the most well known application of tungsten still is the double coiled filament used in incandescent lamps, and tungsten metal has boosted artificial lighting at the beginning of the 20th century. Besides that tungsten has a very widespread use as metal, in alloys, steels and as chemicals.
