Saxony Minerals & Exploration AG was founded in 2011 with an aim to mine raw materials in Saxony and process the materials to marketable quality.

In the Pöhla-Globenstein deposit the metals tungsten, tin, indium and fluorspar are the main objectives of the mining activity.

In 2014/2015, three reference drillings were executed twinning the old exploration drillings to verify the historic exploration data.

From 2017 to 2019 an exploration shaft (176 m depth) was sunk to extract a large ore sample. The ore was processed in a especially erected industrial pilot plant.

The aim was the provision of evidence of sequential processability of the geologically associated tungsten ore and fluorspar.

The legal approval process for the exploitation of the Pöhla-Globenstein deposit is in progress since 2018.  The regional planning procedure with integrated target deviation was approved in 2020.  The planning approval decision for the overall project is expected in the first quarter of 2022. The construction work on mining access and surface infrastructure could begin immediately afterwards.

Production is scheduled to start in 2024.
